A tummy tuck — medically known as abdominoplasty — removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen, tightens the abdominal wall muscles where separation has occurred, and repositions the umbilicus for a natural result. It is the most comprehensive surgical solution for abdominal skin laxity and is one of the most commonly performed procedures at Centre for Surgery.

The procedure is particularly suited to three patient groups. First, women following pregnancy — particularly those with significant skin excess, stretch marks or diastasis recti that has not resolved with physiotherapy. Second, patients following major weight loss — where the abdominal skin has permanently lost its elasticity and hangs regardless of weight maintenance. Third, patients with age-related abdominal skin laxity and muscle weakness where non-surgical approaches have produced no meaningful improvement.
