Profile balancing with dermal fillers is a personalised full-face treatment that is used to create balance between the nose, lip, and chin when viewed in profile (side view).

We often see patients who are interested in enhancing their lip shape, or in having a non-surgical rhinoplasty to recontour their nose. Sometimes patients don’t consider the overall balance of their facial features in profile. For example, they may have a retracted chin, which can make their nose appear longer, resulting in an unbalanced appearance. 

We carefully assess your full facial profile, and your skin, to create a treatment plan that will achieve the best profile result for you.

Through assessment of your full face, we will devise a personalised treatment plan to enhance your natural aesthetics, whilst minimising and disguising features that you’re unhappy with. 

Your treatment might include lip enhancement, non-surgical rhinoplasty, cheek fillers or chin and jawline recontouring, to your requirements.

The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers is a gel-like substance that adds volume to the skin and has a lifting, contouring effect on facial features.

Profile balancing with dermal fillers is a personalised full-face treatment that is used to create balance between the nose, lip, and chin areas of the face to create a pleasing profile.

Dermal also deeply hydrate the skin to give a plump and healthy appearance.

Dermal fillers are usually safe and effective. There can be some risks as with any skin injectables. However, when dermal fillers are administered by a trained medical professional, risks are minimised.

The greatest risk of having filler treatment with an inexperienced is incorrect injection of the filler. If the filler enters a blood vessel, blood supply can be blocked to that part of the face. Incorrect filler injection can be reversed with a treatment to dissolve the filler.

There may be slight discomfort during treatment, but this is minimised by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream beforehand.

Most patients will some tenderness and swelling around the injection sites following their filler treatment. This should resolve within the first 24 hours, but it may continue for up to a week.

After this, you may notice some slight redness over a few days following treatment, whilst the skin is healing.

Any bruising that occurs can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. We recommend applying aloe vera gel/arnica ointment and cold packs to speed up recovery.

Your practitioner will give you full information about any aftercare requirements following your treatment with fillers.

You should avoid touching the treatment area until 6 hours after the . After this period, the area can be gently washed with soap and water and light make-up can be applied.

Whilst the initial swelling and redness are healing, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (such as a or sunbathing) or cold.

For the first 4 hours following treatment, you should avoid bending or lying excessively. Vigorous should be avoided for at least 24 hours.

You will have a health check with us to ensure your suitability for treatment with dermal fillers.

Please inform us of any significant health or neuromuscular conditions you may have.

Dermal fillers may be unsuitable for you if you are taking certain medication.

Prior to your treatment taking place, to reduce any risk of infection, the treatment area should be hair and make-up free. Therefore, we advise that you should shave and remove any make-up before arriving at your .

You may wish to take paracetamol one hour prior to arrival to minimise discomfort during the procedure. When you arrive at our clinic we may apply a numbing cream which can take up to 30 to take effect.

Smoking or alcohol may affect the healing process. Therefore, these are best avoided prior to and at least one week after the treatment.

Dermal fillers last between 6 and 18 months.

After about six months, your body naturally breaks down the hyaluronic acid fillers. You have the option to get top-ups once or twice a year to maintain the benefits.
